10th
Annual Chinook Olympics
Saturday, July 26, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
It's A
Dog's World - York, Maine
Don't Miss the 10th
annual Chinook Olympics! It's absolutely the most fun you can
have with a dog!
Each year, 30-40 Chinooks and
"Chinooks for a day", gather to participate in the Chinook
Olympics. We have fun games for everyone, including team and
individual events, and everyone who participates goes home a
winner! Winners earn ribbons and receive fun prizes - like dog
toys and treats, and we have a raffle with great Chinook items
and even a pot luck BBQ with some really awesome food! Bring a
human food dish to share, and a prize to donate to the raffle.
Oh, and don't forget your checkbook - our merchandise is pretty
fun.
All friendly dogs are welcome,
regardless of breed, but they must go through a special ceremony
at the beginning of the day to make them a "Chinook for a day".
All dog must be leashed and under control at all times, except
in the doggy play area, which is fenced in and away from the
games. We strongly recommend that you bring a crate to house
your dog for times when you cannot watch it. All children must
be supervised during the event.
Our games include:
Chinooks Says
- a version of Simon Says for
dogs that is very competitive!
Egg in Spoon Relay Race
- a team event full of spills and laughs - the best event!!!
Musical Chairs
- the same as before, only with a
dog who must sit before you can - watch out, this can be a
contact sport!
Sack Race
- while kids can participate in any event, this one is just for
them!
Obstacle Course
- jumps, tunnels, and other obstacles make this timed event
really fun!
Tic-Tac-Toe
- your dog has to win the square through a timed stay!
Agility Course
- a real course is set up, and dogs are able to play on the
equipment all day. At the end of the day, we run a novice
course.
We also have a few fun judged
events, like a special class for puppies (no hints on
this one!), a costume contest and a freestyle tricks
class that is always fun!
The most winning puppy and adult
get a lovely prize for being the best Olympiads! Most any dog
can win this honor - all you have to do is compete in every
event!
This event
is held rain or shine, as we have an indoor facility.
